Woman’s Literary Union Purpose:

The Union is organized and operated for the
following purposes:

  • Exclusively for charitable and educational purposes
    within the meaning of  §501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue
    Code of 1986, as amended.

  • To further the intellectual, cultural and educational
    advancement of its members and the community.

  • To take and to hold real estate and permanent funds from
    whatever source received to serve as a museum for the
    preservation of the Nationally Registered Historic Home
    at 19 Elm Street, Auburn, Maine.

  • To have all of the powers and privileges provided by law
    for Maine Nonprofit Corporations under the provisions of
    13-B M.R.S.A.
