WLU Scholarship

Each year, the Woman’s Literary Union awards a scholarship to a graduating senior from a high school in Androscoggin County who intends to pursue studies in the arts or literature.  The recipient will be selected on the basis of scholarship and citizenship.  This year we will award $500.00.  The stipend will be sent to the student after he or she has successfully earned a 2.0 or better for the first semester of college work.

All applications must be postmarked or received via email by April 30, 2024.  (Applications postmarked after this date will not be considered.)  The Scholarship Committee will notify the recipient in May.

All candidates must submit the following materials:

  • Woman’s Literary Union Scholarship Application Form

  • An essay (500 words or less) on “Why I wish to study in the field of arts or literature”

  • High School 4-year transcript

  • Letter of recommendation from your guidance counselor, school administrator, or teacher
